How can we help?
Quick answers below. If yours isn’t here, write to us.
Email us
Tell us your phone or Mac model and Keyey’s version (Keyey › More › About). Never send your pairing code or recovery key.
Getting started
Turning Keyey on as your keyboard
- Open Keyey and tap Get started. The setup takes you to Android’s list of keyboards.
- Switch Keyey on. Android warns that a keyboard “may be able to collect all the text you type”; it says that about every keyboard you add. Keyey keeps what you type on your phone.
- Come back to Keyey and choose it as your keyboard. You can switch keyboards any time with the keyboard button at the bottom of the screen.
Voice typing doesn’t start
- The speech model isn’t there yet. It’s a one-time download (about 660 MB, or less on phones with less memory). Open Keyey and tap Download in Voice typing (best on Wi-Fi); it shows its progress.
- The microphone isn’t allowed. Tap the mic key and allow it, or turn it on in Android’s Settings › Apps › Keyey › Permissions.
- Another app is using the microphone. A call or a recording app can hold it. Try again once it’s finished.
Using Keyey without an account
Everything on the phone works signed out: typing, glide, predictions, voice typing, Fix grammar and your clipboard history. Signing in adds sync with your Mac, cloud backups and Keyey Pro. You can sign in later in More›Account.
Fix grammar says it’s getting the model
The first time you use Fix grammar, Keyey downloads its small model (about 8 MB). Until it’s there, only the certain fixes are made. Try again in a moment.
Your Mac and your account
Pairing your Mac (or another phone)
- Sign in on both with the same account. Pairing is free: My words sync on every plan, and the clipboard with Keyey Pro.
- On your phone: More›Account›Pair a device. It shows a QR code and a code to copy.
- On your Mac: Keyey›Settings›Account›Pair, then scan the code with the Mac’s camera or paste it.
The code carries the key that encrypts everything you sync, so show it only to your own devices.
“That code is for a different Keyey account”
Both devices must be signed in to the same account. Sign in with the same Google account on both, then pair again.
Your recovery key, and losing your devices
Your clipboard, words and backups are encrypted with a key only your devices have. Keyey’s servers never see it, so we can’t recover it for you.
Save a recovery key in More›Account›Save a recovery key and keep it somewhere safe, like a password manager. If you lose every device, it’s the only way back to what was encrypted. Anyone who has it can read your clipboard, so keep it private.
Clips aren’t reaching my phone
Your phone collects new clips while Keyey is open on it, so open the keyboard and they arrive. Check that Shared clipboard is on in You›Clipboard, that both devices are paired to the same account, and, for clips from your Mac, that the account has Keyey Pro: one clipboard across your phone and Mac is part of Pro.
Keyey Pro
What Pro adds, and what stays free
Free: the whole keyboard, Fix grammar, your clipboard history, Keyey for Mac, My words synced between your phone and Mac, and 2,000 free words of dictation a week, shared by your phone and Mac. Keyey Pro adds unlimited dictation on your phone and Mac, one clipboard across your phone and Mac, a bigger history (50,000 clips) and bigger backups.
Restoring Pro on a new phone
Sign in with the same Google account, then More›Keyey Pro›Restore purchases.
Cancelling or changing Pro
Pro is managed by Google Play: open your subscriptions, or use More›Keyey Pro›Manage subscription. Pro keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
“Your purchase went through, but Keyey couldn’t confirm it yet”
Keyey checks every purchase with Google before turning Pro on. If that check couldn’t finish (no connection, for example), tap Restore purchases to try again. You won’t be charged twice.
